Hand-Crafted Clouds: an evening of film, conversation and art

Join us for a creative evening featuring animated films by Irina Litmanovich, including: “Khelom Customs”, “Household Romance”, “Hand-Crafted Clouds” and a short documentary about the filmmaking process.
The evening includes a personal talk by the artist about the creation of these films, followed by a Q&A session with the audience.

Alexander Kolbovsky (film critic):

Moody, ironic, sometimes joyful, sometimes melancholic — always deeply talented. Irina manages to capture atmosphere, breath, memory — not just events, but the essence of them. In Domestic Romance, many saw their own childhood, even if they grew up far from the author’s native Voronezh. In her latest work, she lifts us from everyday life into the skies — to the clouds. These short stories about life and death, about love, loyalty, and the passage of time — will resonate in every heart.” Natalia Rapoport (Doctor of Chemical Sciences): “It’s been nearly a month, and some images from her films are still vivid in my mind. A father plays the piano, a mother sews, and little Ira… what is she doing? Perhaps admiring a butterfly in a pickle jar. An old man chats with his late wife, who lives now only in a portrait and in his heart. A young, lost artist drags her belongings in a cart, searching for a place to belong. Autobiographical? Perhaps.

Viktor Shenderovich (writer, journalist):

I first encountered Irina’s drawings in Household Romance. From the very first moment, it was clear: here is a precise hand and a rare, unique soul. Her watercolors only confirm this — some of them are simply mesmerizing. But trying to describe a painting is as hopeless as trying to retell music. You just have to come and see it for yourself. Irina made a film about her childhood — about her parents, about herself, small but unmistakable; about the creak of snow, a kindergarten holiday, a pickle jar on the windowsill, and the glowing green eye of the radio at home… About everyday things that suddenly become poetry and touch every soul.
